Republicans Capture House, Claim 'Mandate' to Shrink Government

From Fox News:

Republicans thundered into the majority in the House of Representatives Tuesday night, making historic gains by a proportion not seen in more than 70 years.

The party so far has won more than 60 seats, with about 65 net gains projected by the time all ballots are counted -- far more than the party needed to seize the majority. Democrats, with the help of a victory by Majority Leader Harry Reid, held the Senate by a narrow margin but suffered several big losses in an election that just about put Republicans on equal footing with the president's party.

House Republican Leader John Boehner, speaking briefly to reporters Wednesday morning alongside his deputy, Rep. Eric Cantor, R-Va., claimed a "mandate" to cut the size of government and urged President Obama to respect the will of the voters and "change course."

Republican "Pledge to America"

The Republicans released their platform, calling it their "pledge to America." Here are some of the highlights according to CBS News:

Jobs:
- Stop job-killing tax hikes
- Allow small businesses to take a tax deduction equal to 20 percent of their income
- Require congressional approval for any new federal regulation that would add to the deficit
- Repeal small business mandates in the new health care law.

Cutting Spending:
- Repeal and Replace health care
- Roll back non-discretionary spending to 2008 levels before TARP and stimulus (will save $100 billion in first year alone)
- Establish strict budget caps to limit federal spending going forward
- Cancel all future TARP payments and reform Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac

Reforming Congress:
- Will require that every bill have a citation of constitutional authority
- Give members at least 3 days to read bills before a vote

Defense:
- Provide resources to troops
- Fund missile defense
- Enforce sanctions in Iran

You can read the full text here. Also check out the Weekly Standard for more info.

Sounds good, if it is acutally carried out. I especially like the idea of providing a constitutional citiation on every bill. But does this pledge go far enough? Anything you think is misisng?

Sen. Bennett Loses GOP Nomination: And so it Begins

From Politico:

Sen. Robert Bennett lost his party’s nomination during the second round of voting at the GOP state convention Saturday, making the three-term Senator the first incumbent to fall in this volatile midterm election cycle.

Bennett finished in third place in the crucial second-round vote, garnering just 26 percent of the delegates’ support, well behind Tea Party-backed attorney Mike Lee and businessman Tim Bridgewater, who will advance to the June 22nd primary.

“The political atmosphere obviously has been toxic and it’s very clear that some of the votes I have cast have added to the toxic environment,” Bennett acknowledged in a brief media availability with reporters shortly after he was eliminated in the second round of voting.

“Looking back on them, with one or two very minor exceptions, I wouldn’t have cast any of them any differently, even if I had known at the time they were going to cost me my career,” he continued.

Bennett was dogged by his support for the Troubled Asset Relief Program and for co-sponsoring a healthcare bill with Democratic Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Oreg.). To help make his case to the 3,452 delegates, he even tapped the star power of former

Massachusetts governor – and fellow Mormon – Mitt Romney to make a final pitch.
But in the end, the furor stirring at the grassroots level of the party over spending and the growth of government was too much for him to overcome.

In Hamilton County, which includes Cincinnati, about 9 times as many Democrats have switched parties.

Utah's Republican Party Caucus

From Instapundit:

Utah Tea Party organizer David Kirkham sends this report from last night's Republican Party caucusing:

Here is the report on Caucus night here in Utah. Here in Utah we elect delegates to the Republican convention. At convention, if a candidate gets 60% of the delegate vote, they immediately advance to general election with NO primary. This levels the playing field so candidates with relatively little money can challenge an entrenched incumbent.

Tonight I ran for precinct chair in my district. We usually have 40 people show up to caucus night. Tonight we had 67. Everyone running to be a delegate (the chair is automatically a state and county delegate) was allowed a 2 minute speech, then 5 minutes for questions. In my speech I told them I organized Utah's first Tea Party a year ago. Applause. I told them I have helped to organize more than I can remember–maybe 14 or so. More applause. I told them I was not involved in politics at all before the Tea Parties. I had never even voted in a primary before this year–though I did vote in all the general elections.

I told them about our factory in Poland and how I would NEVER vote for Socialism. My first question was if I would vote for Bennett. I said, "Absolutely not." "Why not?" I was asked. "Because he voted for TARP and the bailouts. He voted to turn out the lights." Big applause. The next guy got up and said pretty much the same thing about Bennett (he later became Vice-Chair). A third guy got up and said how much we needed Bennett. He extolled how much we needed his experience and influence. Then, we voted. I got 58 of 67 votes cast in the first count. (Now, I think that was more of a vote for the Tea Party and a vote against Bennett more than anything I said–I'm just another blade of grass in the movement.)
Next we voted for Vice Chair. A Bennett supporter came in last out of 3.

Then we voted for State Delegates. A Bennett supporter came in last out of 2.

Then we voted for County Delegates. We have 5 in our precinct and 6 people ran. County delegates don't even vote for state seats like Senators at convention–only state delegates do. No matter, the first question EVERYONE asked–"Are you going to vote for Bennett?" The lone Bennett supporter came in tied for last out of the 6–he then conceded the seat.

Conclusion: My Tea Party buddies texted me all night from their own precincts as Bennett supporters fell. EVERYWHERE, Bennett was toxic. In our straw poll, Bennett came in 3rd. Maybe there is hope after all.

UPDATE: Reader Randy Simmons emails: "My caucus was exactly the opposite. At the caucus meeting two years ago there were 8 people who attended. This time there were 45. Forty-two of them supported Bob Bennett. Almost all of them were highly offended by the Club for Growth campaign against Bennett. In private conversations it appeared that nearly everyone would support Mike Lee, Bennett's main opponent, over Senator Hatch but not over Senator Bennett. This caucus meeting was in Cache County, one of the more conservative areas of the state and I was the only person in the room employed at the university so they were not a bunch of pointy-headed intellectuals living off the state."

ANOTHER UPDATE: More reporting from Utah. "9 people showed up for the last precinct caucus – there were over 50 last night. I lost by 2 votes. BUT THIS IS THE KICKER — I lost to Senator Bennett's BROTHER. I knew that I live in a pretty entrenched area for Senator Bennett, and I knew I was running against his brother for state delegate, and I knew it was a long shot – BUT I ONLY LOST BY 2 VOTES."

Dan Fisher for State and County Delegate for the Utah Republican Party in Precinct 4626

My good friend Dan Fisher is running for reelection as a state and county delegate for the Utah Republican Party in precinct 4626. If any of you can attend, and lend him your support, it would be appreciated.

Dear Neighbor,

My name is Dan Fisher, and I am currently serving my first term as your state and county delegate for the Utah Republican Party in precinct 4626. I am seeking your vote for my re-election at the upcoming caucus meeting to be held at 7:00 p.m. on March 23 at Brighton High School.

I am planning on running for a second term, as I am ever more concerned that fiscal irresponsibility, neglect of our constitution, and a gross misunderstanding of the role of government has become pervasive in our nation among democrats and republicans alike.

I have met, and individually vetted candidates for the upcoming senate race, and I feel that Mike Lee, Tim Bridgewater, and Cheryln Eagar all show wonderful potential. I also feel they are far more concerned with our constitutional liberties than is our current Senator, Bob Bennett. Although I have not committed myself to a particular candidate, I plan to cast my vote for the candidate that has the deepest commitment to the constitution, and the best understanding of free-market economics and fiscal responsibility. This same standard will be applied to my choice for governor, and our national house representative.

Again, I would sincerely appreciate your vote, and I look forward to seeing you at the upcoming caucus meeting. I would be happy to further discuss my background and reasons for running for this important position, and can be contacted at the phone number or email address listed above.

Sincerely,

Dan Fisher

Is Scott Brown a Conservative? Well, No.

Is Scott Brown a conservative? No, not really. I suppose if you compared him to the left of center senators like Reid or Franken, then yes he is. But, if you compare him to say, Palin or Gingrich, no he is not. But, the important thing to me is, he is certainly more conservative than Kennedy, and more so than Coakley; in other words, he is an improvement. He really is the best we could hope for out of such a democratic state. One has to speculate that he might uphold this "independent" image as a way to survive in Mass. Mass. is a very democratic state, and they would be unlikely to elect a Republican that was too "in your face" conservative.

So, even though he seems to be on the right side of the major issues, it is important to stress that he isn't the model senator the Tea Partiers have been looking for.

From Fox:

He voted for universal healthcare in Massachusetts but pledges to be the 41st vote against the health care reform legislation on Capitol Hill. ... Brown believes the best solutions can be found at the state level, not with a "one-size-fits-all" national plan.

Brown is a Lieutenant Colonel in the National Guard. He believes waterboarding is a legitimate enhanced interrogation technique, not a form of torture, and is vehemently opposed to trying 'enemy combatants' in civilian courts.

On fiscal matters, Brown is conservative, criticizing the stimulus and opposing the President's proposed fee on banks, calling it a tax that will trickle down to the people, making it tougher to get loans and pushing banks to raise checking and ATM fees.

He says Roe v. Wade is settled law, but supports strong parental notification measures and a partial birth abortion ban.

On defense, he backs the President's plan to send additional troops to Afghanistan.

Boston.com:

By describing himself as a fiscal conservative and an independent, did Brown mean to suggest he’s a social liberal?

“No,’’ Brown chuckled in the radio interview. “I’m not known as a social liberal, that’s for sure.’’

Last week he embraced waterboarding. Last month he expressed skepticism that climate change is being caused by humans. He has even denounced two national proposals that he supported in Massachusetts as a lawmaker - mandatory health care coverage and a cap-and-trade system to cut global warming gases.

To be sure, the 30-year National Guardsman from Wrentham would never have been called a social liberal. Long a foe of gay marriage and a “tax-and-spend mentality,’’ Brown calls himself a social moderate, and his work in the Legislature has focused on issues such as tightening restrictions on sex offenders.

I am going to take a wait and see approach. Based on his record, he looks pretty moderate. Let's see how this plays out on the national stage. One thing that does worry me?

Brown said his model for governing would be McCain, who would also be the first appointment in a packed schedule of meetings that morning. "I have great respect for Senator McCain," he said of the Arizona senator, who was one of the first establishment players to support his seemingly quixotic bid against Attorney General Martha Coakley. "I've known him for a while, long before this, and you know he is a war hero and kind of a maverick independent thinker. While I want to be a Scott Brown Republican, I want to rely on everybody on both sides of the aisle," he added, "I've told my leadership already that I'm not a rubber stamp for anybody."

Yikes.

GOP Congressional Candidate Bobby Schilling: New ‘New Deal' is Bogus

Please note Notoriously Conservative is not endorsing this candidate, simply providing this information for your consideration.

Schilling: New 'New Deal' is Bogus Wastes money and insults real job creators

EAST MOLINE, IL--Bobby Schilling, Republican candidate for the Illinois 17th Congressional District, criticized the so-called "New Deal for a New Economy Act" today, for using false predictions and bogus facts, and for ignoring the input of real people who know how to create real jobs.

"The Democrats in Congress-including Rep. Phil Hare - are falsely claiming that this 'New-New Deal' is going to create at least 3 million jobs," said Schilling. "Didn't they also predict that the $787 billion stimulus was going to create 6.8 million jobs by 2012? Since passing the stimulus, 2.65 million jobs have been lost across the country. That is quite short of the 6.8 million projected in two years. This number is also expected to be inflated due to the fact that there is no standard for measuring jobs saved."

The White House had previously predicted that the stimulus would keep the unemployment rate under 8 percent, however, the unemployment rate has risen past 10 percent, even with the stimulus. The New Deal for a New Economy Act is projected to cost $180 billion, which is less than 30 percent of the stimulus bill. Schilling said that if this bill performs better than the stimulus, then "Congress should be fired for wasting $787 billion on a failed stimulus."

"We need solutions, not temporary busy work. What happens when the funds for these jobs dry up? Will we have to lay off those workers? Will we have to spend another $180 billion to keep these jobs in place? I have said it before, the American people don't want or deserve temporary work projects, they want real solutions and stable jobs. They don't want more federal pork programs that only add to the debt our children will be burdened with."

Schilling said the so-called New Deal might have been better thought-out if the Democrats hadn't intentionally barred the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and the National Federation of Business from attending the recent Job Summit. "It's obvious," Schilling said, "that people who know how to create jobs were not involved in drafting this so-called 'New Deal.' The residents of the U.S. and the Illinois 17th Congressional District face real problems and they need real solutions - not cool and expensive slogans dreamed up by East Coast elitists."

Schilling, a native of Rock Island, has served as a local union steward and also has 13 years of union experience. Schilling, a local business owner and father of nine children, is running on a platform of bringing jobs and real representation back to the 17th district. Schilling is the only Republican candidate for the Illinois 17th District that will be on the ballot in the February primary election.

Open Call to Congressional Republicans

It’s official folks, with the Democrats steamrolling over the GOP filibuster intended to stop another TRILLION in wasteful spending yesterday, Republicans in congress have been handed their hat once again.

Do you republicans not know that you are completely irrelevant? Or do you just not have the spine to take a real stand? Democrats are making asses out of all of you!

This is NOT a game! The future of freedom and liberty hang in the balance and most Americans know it! How did you miss it?

Republican congressional votes have NO meaning today. So what, if you are “on-record” voting against the global socialist leap off the leftist cliff? Unless you find a way to derail that speeding locomotive, you will soon burn in a Marxist hell with the rest of us.

When American freedom and liberty are gone and every American is forced into a financial corner where socialism looks better than starvation, it won’t matter who voted against it!
With the loss of the filibuster, Congressional Republicans have only ONE play left to stop the coming train wreck, when Obamunism runs head-on into millions of increasingly angry American patriots in the streets. Only Congressional Republicans can stop that clash!
Congressional Republicans MUST WALK OUT immediately!

You must pack your bags, close your offices, refuse to enter the congressional chambers for one more pretend vote in which the Democrats will hand you your hat once again.

If Republicans want to harness the power of the Tea Party – 912 – and Town Hall patriots across this land, you can do it in three simple steps…

· Shut down congress by walking out and refusing to return. Can Democrats even call something to a floor vote without a single republican in the chamber? Would they even dare try it?

· Return home and spend time listening to angry patriots in as many town hall meetings as you can schedule. You will earn your pay at a town hall, whereas attending another congressional vote is worse than a waste of time. It’s counter-productive. Go home and listen, don’t talk!

· Grow the backbone to walk away from all of your past mistakes, and line up behind the ONLY people who can put you back in power, the American patriots who stand for a constitutional government and against the current steamroller to socialism.

You have only one other option… to keep doing what you’re doing, which amounts to being a big part of the problem, instead of a part of the solution.

WALK OUT TODAY!

GO HOME! - And set up as many town hall meetings in your home districts as you can fit into your schedule. Earn your paycheck by meeting with the people, so that you can once again begin to represent the will of the people. Don’t talk – LISTEN!

Tell Democrats that if they are determined to lead this country into the toilet, they will have to do it all alone without a single republican in the chamber when they do it, one lousy piece of anti-American legislation after another.

Republicans have a very clear choice to make and you had better make it fast! The nation doesn’t need two parties full of leftist losers. Republicans willing to stay in session should be seen not as “RINOs,” but as Democrats… and they will be.

You can take a stand with the 70% of Americans who DO NOT want any form of Cap & Trade, Global Socialized Medicine, a One World Government, the Copenhagen Climate Scam, Amnesty for Illegal’s, or trillion dollar payoffs to leftist organizations and labor unions which only enrich the leftist juggernaut now running roughshod over the nation. Only 25% “strongly approve” of Obamunism as of today… It’s time for you to strike!

Severe situations demand severe action!

We are out of time for any other option. The Tea Party – 912 and Town Hall people will not – I repeat – WILL NOT line up behind Republicans too spineless to put a stop to the hourly destruction of this nation.

Republicans have ONLY one way to regain any form of power, and that is to toss out the politically correct nonsense of the past and line up behind the millions of patriots begging for action across this country!

Republicans either line-up behind the American right in a hurry, or their party is finished, as is this nation.

WALK OUT IMMEDIATELY! – And DO NOT RETURN until you have control of congress next November!

I call upon EVERY Washington DC Republican to walk out NOW!

This is NOT an issue item! This is NOT a circus stunt sideshow. WALK OUT and STAY OUT! Refuse to participate in the rape of this great nation!

If you continue to sit in that chamber and watch the gang rape of this nation, you are NO BETTER than the rapists! GET OUT of that chamber NOW! Let the American people see the rapists clearly!

God help us all if YOU lack the courage to do what must be done to save this nation!

Good Night for GOP and Conservatives

The elections went well yesterday, as positions were wrestled away from Democrats, and the people let Obama know that they were unsatisfied with the direction his administration is going. Bob McDonnell, a Conservative Republican, won the state of Virginia's Gubernatorial race, by 18%.

In New Jersey, Republican Chris Christie won by 5%.

In New York's 23rd district, Conservative Party Candidate Doug Hoffman, was able to force the liberal RINO, Dierdre Scozzafava, out of the race. He probably would have won too, if it weren't for the 100,000 + morons that voted for her, even though she was no longer running. Even though Owens beat out Hoffman, it sent a strong message to the GOP, letting them know we won't elect RINOs, we want conservatives.

Republican (if you can call him that) Michael Bloomberg won NYC's mayoral race, after putting up $100 million of his personal wealth.

And perhaps most significant, Maine became the 31st state to ban gay marriage. Yay! Take that, sodomizers.

Despite the media reporting that the Dems are in trouble, Pelosi and Obama seem to be ignoring the election results, and continuing their push to make America a socialist country.

Scozzafava is a Tool

So Dede Scozzafava bowed out of the Upstate New York congressional race on Saturday. Apparently her good looks just weren't enough.

She claims her reason for dropping out was:
"In recent days, polls have indicated that my chances of winning this election are not as strong as we would like them to be. The reality that I've come to accept is that in today's political arena, you must be able to back up your message with money—and as I've been outspent on both sides, I've been unable to effectively address many of the charges that have been made about my record,” she said in a statement.
Oh, sure, it was the money wasn't it? You baby killing, gay marriage lovin' RINO? No, the fact is, Scozzafava was absolutely no different than Owens, her democratic opponent. That's why it was so easy for the Conservative Party to oust her from the race. Given her liberal views, it is very unsurprising that she is giving her support to Owens, and not the conservative candidate.

The GOP is trying to grab on to some of this momentum, claiming they can use it to their advantage in ousting Obama, and gaining seats in the House. Problem is, it isn't true. This isn't their movement, it is ours, the people, the conservatives of this country. What they still don't realize is, they will actually end up losing more seats, if they don't start proffering up some conservative candidates. Conservatives are going to continue to put up their own candidates, and that is going to mean a split vote among Republican voters. With Republicans losing half, or more, of their votes, they are doomed to become an even larger minority. How can they prevent this? How can they take advantage of the conservative movement? They can go back to being a conservative party by giving us conservative candidates. Conservatives are giving the GOP a choice: go conservative, or go away.

Bravo Rep. Joe Wilson

Rep. Joe Wilson heckled President Obama during his lying rant, I mean speech, yesterday. Right after the speech, he was condemed by both sides, and forced to appologize. Why in the heck should this man appologize? I mean, yeah, it's against ettiquete, but how can a person be expected to just sit there an listen to such drivel? Besides, it's not like this is something new. Remember when the Demotards booed Bush during his State of Union Speech? Remember when Obama Accused Bill Clinton of Telling 'Bald-Faced Lies?' Ok, sure, perhaps it was the wrong time, wrong place, but I still applaud the man for standing up like that. Good for him, and I hope all his constituents visit his site, and donate to his reelection campaign, because you know the democrats are doing the same for his opposition.

Take a look at the video of the speech, where Rep. Wilson calls Obama a liar. Pay special attention to the death glare Comrad Pelosi shoots his direction. Then she leans over to Biden and mutters something, probably having to do with putting him on some sort of death list.

Obama's Betrayals Can Unite Us All

For months I contemplated the idea of discovering the one common denominator that could unite all Americans regardless of our persuasions and backgrounds. It was definitely a struggle considering the vast amount of research that kept leading me back to our differences. But along the way, I did notice that our showcased divisions were simply by an unscrupulous design.

Continually and consistently pitting us against each other – ‘haves’ versus ‘have-nots’, liberals versus conservatives, and so on – is actually due to politicians who seek power over a divided people, for in division we are weak. Many leaders have systematically divided the masses in order to manipulate the transfer of power from the people to the government. When we are distracted by our differences – politically, spiritually, financially, etc. – we fail to clearly see the looming big picture that will ultimately affect us all.

Barack Obama’s portrayed beliefs assert that the citizens of this country must sacrifice for the betterment of the collective. However, he manipulates our differences in order to divide the American people into groups – divide and conquer. But there is one important detail that Obama has definitely miscalculated. He banked on the notion that the collective was made up of enough faithfully blind followers that would implement his every wish and command. Instead he has painstakingly realized that regardless of the alluring bait dangling in front of us, we are a collection of individuals capable of evaluating and deducing from our own perspectives. And throughout Obama’s tactics to divide our nation, he has betrayed many of these groups.

Obama betrayed veterans when he proposed that
service-related injuries be charged to their private insurances. He betrayed police officers when he proposed a major cut in the funding to the families of slain officers and when without knowing the facts, he stated that they acted “stupidly” in the arrest of Harvard Professor Gates. He betrayed postal workers when he implied that they were inefficient and lacked the necessary skills to succeed. He betrayed the fiscally conservative when he championed a pork-filled stimulus plan and embarked on a record setting spending spree. He has betrayed the Christians when he insisted that Georgetown University conceal any symbols or writings that represented Jesus Christ. He betrayed the Jews when Israeli’s Chief of Staff received an unwelcoming reception at the White House and when he awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom to Mary Robinson. He has betrayed gays and lesbians when he promised to repeal the Defense of Marriage Act but has failed to do so. He betrayed the employees of insurance companies by reflecting them as greedy and subject to investigation. And most surprisingly, he betrayed the liberals when he flip-flopped on his insistence of a government-run option within the Health Care Reform bill.

There is no doubt that I have missed many groups, and my sincere apologies to those who have been omitted. But based upon Obama’s accumulative actions, it is now readily apparent that we actually do have something in common, despite all of our differences, in which we can unite. It must also be said that Americans are strongest when we identify ourselves as individuals first. And as such, we should stand united as the one common denominator for the collective can be summed up as follows: Sooner or later, Barack Obama will have betrayed us all. So if one’s allegiance incorrectly leads you to believe that he eventually won’t betray you as well, it is undoubtedly only a matter of time.

Congressman Jason Chaffetz Responds to my E-mail Concerning Obamacare

August 19, 2009

Dear Mr. -------,

Thank you for taking the time to share with me your concerns regarding our health care system. I share many of your concerns in recognizing serious issues concerning the quality, accessibility and availability of affordable health insurance.

The majority of Americans agree that our health care system is in a state of crisis and in need of significant reform. I support policies that uphold the core principles of limited government. Prevention at a primary level is an important health care cost effective initiative.

I envision a health care system that is patient centered, allowing the individual to make their health care decisions. I support health care reform that puts the patient and their health first, protecting the important doctor-patient relationship. Tort reform, tax credits, and health savings accounts are among the potential solutions to help us accomplish this.

Expanding government's role in health care will raise taxes, ration care, and allow government bureaucrats to make decisions that should be made by families and their doctors. Government mandates in health care already encourage waste, fraud and abuse that result in higher costs and more families without care.

I am opposed to HR 3200, the House Democrats' health care plan, and will be voting against it.

Again, thank you for contacting my office. I greatly appreciate your active involvement on this issue.

Sincerely,

Jason Chaffetz
Member of Congress
Now, if you compare this to the letter I received from Congressman Jim Matheson, you will notice that Chaffetz is much more to the point, and lets me know clearly, that he will not be voting for Obamacare. It also seems much less like a form letter, as it isn't full of talking points, and a bunch of fluff, like Matheson's letter. I urge all my fellow Utahan's to get Matheson out of office, and replace him with a strong conservative.

Will Politicians Use Universal Health Care Coverage?

Let me stress that this has been floating around the internet, and I don't know if this encounter actually took place this way, on ABC. So please take it with a grain of salt. That said, it doesn't matter if the exchange really took place this way. The fact remains that Obama, and the Washington elite will not be forced to take the same health care coverage as the rest of us. Do you really think they will be waiting weeks to see the doctor? Or months to get much needed surgery? Nope, they will still the the best treatment available, at our expense.

On "ABC-TV" (better known as the All Barack Channel) during the network special on health care, Obama was asked:

"Mr President, will you and your family give up your current health care program, and join the new universal health care program that the rest of us will be on?"

There was a stony silence as Obama ignored the question, and chose not to answer it.

In addition, a number of senators were asked the same question, and their response was "We will think about it."

And they did. It was announced today on the news that the "Kennedy health care bill" was written into the new health care reform initiative, insuring that congress will be 100% exempt from universal health care coverage.

So this great new health care plan that is good for you and I, is not good enough for Obama, his family, or congress? We, the American public, need to stop this proposed legislation, ASAP. It is wrong that we are forced to accept universal health care, while the Washington elite continue on with their solid gold health care coverage. They are servants of the people, not lords and ladies to be lavished with tax payer dollars, and luxuries not available to the rest of us.

Obama's Health Care Lies - A Letter from Michael Steele

Dear Citizen,

President Obama told the American people in his weekend address he wanted to "start dispelling the outlandish rumors" about the Democrats' risky health care experiment.
I couldn't agree more with the President.

There is no place for outlandish rumor or outrageous rhetoric in the debate for the affordable and accessible health care reform we all want.

Below are some facts that will help you counter the dishonest rhetoric Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and liberal special interest groups are disseminating in their attempt to silence dissent:

Rhetoric: President Obama Promises Americans Can Keep Their Current Health Care Coverage. "You know, the interesting thing is we've actually been very clear on what we want. I've said I want to make sure if you have health care you are going to keep it..." (PBS's "The Newshour With Jim Lehrer," 7/20/09)

FACT: Analysis Shows Over 88 Million People To Lose Current Insurance Under Government Health Care Takeover. "Under current law, there will be about 158.1 million people who are covered under an employer plan as workers, dependents or early retirees in 2011. If the act were fully implemented in that year, about 88.1 million workers would shift from private employer insurance to the public plan." (John Shelis, Vice President, Lewin Group, "Analysis Of The July 15 Draft Of The American Affordable Health Choices Act Of 2009," 7/17/09)

Rhetoric: President Obama Pledges Americans Can Keep Their Doctor. "If you like your plan and you like your doctor, you won't have to do a thing. You keep your plan. You keep your doctor...We're not going to mess with it." (President Barack Obama, Remarks At White House Press Conference, The White House, 6/23/09)

FACT: Mayo Clinic Says Government-Run Health Care Will Force Doctors To Drop Patients. '[L]awmakers are on track to approve across-the-board federal payment reductions of $155 billion over 10 years for hospitals ... Mayo and similar health systems object to the sweeping cuts. 'Across-the-board cuts will be harmful to everyone and we think it is particularly bad to penalize the high-value organizations,' said Jeff Korsmo, executive director of the Mayo Clinic Health Policy Center. 'We will have to violate our values in order to stay in business and reduce our access to government patients.'" (Phil Galewitz, "'Model' Health Systems Press Case For Medicare Fix In Reform," Kaiser Health News, 7/20/09)

Rhetoric: President Obama Promises No Additional Taxes On Middle Class. "What I've said is, and I have stuck to this point, I don't want to see additional tax burdens on people making $250,000 a year or less." (NBC's "Today Show," 7/21/09)

FACT: Democrats' Plan Imposes 2.5% Tax On Uninsured Individuals. "The penalty assessed on people who would be subject to the mandate but did not obtain insurance would equal 2.5 percent of the difference between their adjusted gross income (modified to include tax-exempt interest and certain other sources of income) and the tax filing threshold ..." (Douglas W. Elmendorf, "Preliminary Analysis Of The Insurance Coverage Specifications Provided By The House Tri-Committee Group," Letter To Chairman Rangel, 7/17/09)

The Republicans want an honest and open debate about how to reform health care, but it is the Democrats who do not want to have a legitimate discussion on the issues. Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and their liberal special interest cronies are resorting to calling concerned citizens who have questions about their health care schemes "astroturf," "un-American," and even "political terrorists."

One White House aide went so far to say "if you get hit, we will punch backtwice as hard" when coaching Senate Democrats on the ways of "Chicago land politics."

It's time for the President to practice what he preached on the campaign trail and respect all voices in the health care debate.

Help the RNC spread the facts about the Obama Democrats' dishonest rhetoric and stop their efforts to silence dissent by forwarding this email to your friends, and if you can, make a contribution of whatever you can afford to the RNC today.

And for more information about Obama's government-run health care experiment, go to www.BarackObamaExperiment.com. Citizen, there's too much at stake for Democrats and their left-wing allies to dominate the debate on health care reform with misinformation, name calling and scare tactics. Please help Republicans fight back today!

Sincerely,

Yay! Obama Lied Again! You Will Get Taxed!!!

President Obama may have to raise taxes to pay for public health care and the growing deficit, an eventuality that administration officials touched lightly on Sunday as they promoted an economy emerging from recession.

With an expected deficit next year of $1.8 trillion, and spending still being planned for a $1 trillion, 10-year health care reform, officials say something will have to be done to prevent further erosion of the economy.

"We will not get this economy back on track, recovery will be not strong and sustained, unless we ... can convince the American people that we're going to have the will to bring these deficits down once recovery is firmly established," Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner said on ABC's "This Week."

Asked point blank whether it was right to suggest it is a matter of when, not if, taxes will be raised, Geithner responded, "It is absolutely right."
Not if, but when... Yes, despite all his campaign promises to not raise your taxes, here we are, 8 months into the first year of his presidency, and we learn that was a lie, he will indeed raise our taxes. Feeling stupid for voting for Obama yet? Not me, I wanted Romney.

Listen America, you have to learn a hard lesson, Democrats tax and spend, it's sort of that "thang," it's what they do. As of late, Republicans haven't been a heck of a lot better. If you are sick of paying taxes, if you are sick of the disgusting speed at which the Government is growing, then you need to do some hard research before you vote. Research doesn't mean the opinion page of your newspaper, ads on TV, or watching CNN. Research means looking into a candidates voting record, into their past dealing in and out of politics, and really getting to know the person running. In this way, you can find someone that is truly fiscally conservative, and get them elected. Tax and spend, needs to end.

LDS (Mormon) More Politically Conservative Than Any Other Faith

SALT LAKE CITY -- This most likely won't surprise you. Most Mormons are Republican.

The Pew Forum U.S. Religious Landscape Survey says 65 percent of LDS Church members are either Republican or they lean that way, which is a higher percentage than any other religious group.

(...)

The Pew study says only 50 percent of evangelicals consider themselves
Republican or right-leaning, compared to 33 percent of Catholics, 41 percent of
members of what are called "Mainline Churches" and 25 percent of "Other
Christians."

According to the study, 22 percent of Mormons are Democrats or left-leaning, and 8 percent say they're independent. But some Democrats see 22 percent as a big jump from the ‘80s.

That's pretty interesting stuff. Still, I wonder how anyone that considers themselves religious, can be liberal. How can they affiliate themselves with an ideology that supports abortion. Is killing babies Christ-like? How can they affiliate themselves with an ideology that supports gay marriage? Tell me, where in the Bible does it talk about gay marriage being ok? It doesn't, but it does mention, multiple times, men marrying women, and women marrying men (Gen. 34:9, Ex. 21:10, Deut. 7:3, etc.). It does not talk about Adam and Steve. How can they affiliate themselves with a party that takes away personal freedoms, punishes hard work, and pushes dependence on Government and others?

I would hope that most religious people, that are not republican, are still conservative. I would hope that those people that consider themselves liberal, don't really understand what that implies, and that they are more conservative than they realize.

Obama's Approval and Trustworthiness Continue to Fall

Trust in President Barack Obama and his Democratic allies to identify the right solutions to problems facing the country has dropped off significantly since March, according to a new Public Strategies Inc./POLITICO poll.

Just as Obama intensifies his efforts to fulfill a campaign promise and reach an agreement with Congress on health care reform, the number of Americans who say they trust the president has fallen from 66 percent to 54 percent. At the same time, the percentage of those who say they do not trust the president has jumped from 31 to 42.

The president’s party has taken a similar hit since the last Public Trust Monitor poll, with only 42 percent of respondents saying that they trust the Democratic Party, compared with 52 percent who do not. The party’s numbers are nearly the inverse of March’s survey, in which 52 percent said they trusted Democrats and 42 percent did not.

Obama’s personal approval rating has fallen below 60 percent in a number of recent major polls, and according to a Washington Post/ABC News survey out Monday, support for the president’s leadership on several key issues has fallen below 50 percent.

But whatever the problems faced by Obama and his party, they still earn higher approval ratings than other Washington leaders or the Republican Party, according to the Public Trust Monitor poll. And the loss in trust in Democrats did not correspond with a gain for the GOP: Trust in Republicans fell from 40 percent in March to 36 percent in the recent survey.

As I said a couple of days ago, the sparkle has faded, the rust is beginning to show, and these disapproval numbers will continue to climb. Why couldn't these people have just listened before the election, to the kind of man Obama is. We could have avoided all of this. John McCain wasn't exactly the pick of the litter, but at least he isn't socialist, at least he has experience, at least he is certifiably American.

It's a shame the Republican Party has failed to take advantage of this. It is almost as if they want to lose. I mean really, what an opportunity they had against Obama, with all the evidence against him in the campaign, being a socialist, palling around with terrorists, hate mongers, etc. But they couldn't come up with a candidate or a strategy to take advantage of that? They couldn't find someone better than Obama? They couldn't take advantage of the years as the majority in congress, to gain respect, trust and momentum? How inept are the GOP leaders?

It looks as if the Republican Party is dying, and unless someone jumps in to save it, it collapse completely, leading the way for a new party, hopefully, a more conservative one.

Number of Americans Who See Democratic Party as “Too Liberal” on the Rise

From Gallup

by Jeffrey M. Jones

PRINCETON, NJ -- A Gallup Poll finds a statistically significant
increase since last year in the percentage of Americans who describe the Democratic Party's views as being "too liberal," from 39% to 46%. This is the largest percentage saying so since November 1994, after the party's losses in that year's midterm elections.
(Cross our fingers this leads to a future loss)

Most major demographic and attitudinal subgroups show at least a slight uptick since 2008 in perceptions that the Democratic Party is too liberal. The increasing perception of the Democrats as too far left comes as President Obama and the Democrats in Congress have expanded the government's role in the economy to address the economic problems facing the country. Additionally, the government is working toward major healthcare reform legislation and strengthening environmental regulations.

And while that is good news, there is also bad news. "More believe Democratic Party’s, rather than Republican Party’s, views are about right."

Notably, there has been no change over the past year in the percentage of Americans who say the Republican Party is "too conservative," though the 43% who say the party leans too far to the right matches the historical high mark set last year.

As a result, now slightly more Americans perceive the Democratic Party as being too liberal (46%) than view the GOP as being too conservative (43%).

But the Democratic Party still compares favorably to the Republican Party from the standpoint that more Americans say the Democrats' ideology is "about right" (42%) than say this about the Republicans' ideology (34%).

In fact, the 34% who say the GOP is about right is a new low since the question was first asked in 1992, and a far cry from November 1994 and November 2002, when majorities thought the Republicans' views were appropriately balanced.

Independents' Views of the Parties

Political independents' perceptions of the two major parties' ideological orientation are important since both parties need to appeal to the political center in order to win elections. (The vast majority of partisan identifiers predictably view their chosen party's views as being about right and the other party's as being too extreme.)

Currently, independents are more likely to view both parties as being too extreme in either direction than to believe they are about right. But more independents say the Democratic Party (38%) than the Republican Party (25%) is about right.

Independents are a little more likely to say the Republican Party is too conservative than to say the Democratic Party is too liberal, in a slight departure from the results among all Americans.

Since last year, there have been declining perceptions among independents that each party is about right in its ideological orientation -- from 31% to 25% for the Republican Party and from 43% to 38% for the Democratic Party. Most of the decline in regard to the Democratic Party has been associated with in an increase in seeing the party as "too liberal."

Ahh, and after all that work the Republican Party has put into being more conservative, and striving to be just like the Democratic Party.

Implications

The Democratic Party continues to hold the upper hand over the Republican Party in the current U.S. political environment by a variety of measures, including party identification and party favorable ratings. However, compared to last year, Americans are significantly more likely to see the Democratic Party as too liberal, and as a result, they are somewhat more likely to view the party as being too far left than to perceive the Republican Party as too far right. That may expose a bit of a vulnerability for the Democratic Party, and if perceptions of the Democratic Party as being too liberal continue to grow, the GOP may be able to win back some of the support it has lost in recent years. But that may be possible only if the Republicans are at the same time able to convince the public that they are not too far to the political right.

That last sentence is a bunch of crap. Yes we don't want to be perceived as fascist, but we do want to be viewed as extremely conservative, it's what distinguishes us from the Demotards. Being "too far to the political right" is what won Regan two landslide elections. There are plenty of conservative Democrats out there, my father in law being one of them. If we are going to get those Dems to cross party lines, we need to give them a strong, conservative reason to do so. There are also vast numbers of independents out there that are very, very conservative, and don't associate themselves with either party, because they feel that neither party properly espouses their views. Can you blame them?
