Chinese Car that Gets 258 MPG

VW is introducing a car in China that gets 258 mpg. It was rumored that it only cost $600, but digging deeper, I found it actually will cost anywhere from $31,400 to $47,100. Seems pricey to me, but at 258 mpg, perhaps it wouldn't take too long to make up the cost.

This is not a toy, not a concept car. It is a newly developed single seat car in highly aerodynamic tear-shape road-proven real car. It is ready to be launched as a single-seater for sale in Shanghai in 2010 for $31,400 to $47,100 US.

Interested? Wait till you learn that it will cruise at 100-120 Km/Hr with an unbelievable 0.99litre/100Km (258 miles/gallon) !!

Impressed? Totally, after you have read all the details below about the hi-tech and space-age material input into this car!!!

From conception to production: 3 years and the company is headquartered in Hamburg , Germany ..

Will be selling for 4000 yuan, equivalent to US$600..
Gas tank capacity = 1.7 gallons
Speed = 62 – 74.6 Miles/hour
Fuel efficiency = 258 miles/gallon
Travel distance with a full tank = 404 miles

Sure it probably accelerates like a lawn mower, and handles like a cargo dolly, but hey, 258 mpg! Oh, and I guess if you crash you will die... Or if you hit a speed bump... But 258! I'll take the risk.

It looks like the original source was a bit off on the price, apparently it will cost more like $31,400, not $600. According to motorauthority.com:

Pricing is expected to fall somewhere between €20,000 and €30,000 ($31,400 to $47,100). Assembly is tipped to take place in VW's prototype shop, which can produce 1,000 cars per year at full tilt, reports CAR.

This is the go-cart that Government Motors is going to build and Obama is going to force us to buy.

Looks hard to get in and out of, and if it had another 6-12 inches of leg room I'd actually be all for one! That kind of mileage would ROCK

It looks like a really cool car. I can't afford one though because it is pricey for a one seater.

Wow that's great, if I have had enough money then why not take advantage for that beautiful car. Anyway, it's not a waste of money then it's an investment with your hard-work, and help you travel anywhere.

When I was with the US Paratroopers in Munich 55 years ago they (Germans) took the fuseloge of a Messerschmit 109 fighter plane and put wheels on it and used it for transportation. They (Germans) have done it again. Good for them, this will set the auto industry on it butt.
