"Rush Limbaugh hopes the country fails? I hope his kidneys fail, how 'bout that'?"

President Laughs at Wanda Sykes Joke About Rush Limbaugh: 'I Hope His Kidneys Fail'...
"I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight."

Obama laughs at Rush "Oxycontin" jab.
CSPAN was trained on the president when Sykes joked that Limbaugh was the "I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th [Sept. 11th] hijacker, but he was so strung out on Oxycontin he missed his flight."

Obama was chuckling -- while saying something to his dais mates -- and couldn't quite stop smiling even as he sipped some water.

She finished her Rush bit with: "l hope this country fails?" I hope his kidney fails!"
He chuckled at that one too.

What was Obama thinking?
What was Wanda Sykes thinking? Perhaps more to the point, what was President Barack Obama thinking when he laughed and smiled as the comedienne wished Rush Limbaugh dead?

Although the Left is reporting her White House Correspondents' Dinner speech as "taking shots" at Limbaugh and mocking everyone, that's a gross misrepresentation of what turned into a hateful and disgusting diatribe.(...)

But the speech took a very ugly turn when she laid into Limbaugh.

This is what she said: "Rush Limbaugh said he hopes this administration fails, so you're saying, 'I hope America fails', you're, like, 'I dont care about people losing their homes, their jobs, our soldiers in Iraq'. He just wants the country to fail. To me, that's treason.

"He's not saying anything differently than what Osama bin Laden is saying. You know, you might want to look into this, sir, because I think Rush Limbaugh was the 20th hijacker. But he was just so strung out on OxyContin he missed his flight."

She then concluded: "Rush Limbaugh, I hope the country fails, I hope his kidneys fail, how about that? He needs a good waterboarding, that's what he needs." Obama seemed to think this bit was pretty hilarious, grinning and chuckling and turning to share the "joke" with the person sitting on his right.

There's not much room for differing interpretations of what Sykes said. She called Limbaugh a terrorist and a traitor, suggested that he be tortured and wished him dead.

What was his crime? Hoping that Obama's policies - which he views as socialist - will fail.

President mocks press at dinner: 'All of you voted for me'...
The routine brought mostly guffaws from the 2,500 journalists, politicians and celebrities jammed into the Washington Hilton ballroom for the press corps' annual celebration of itself. The president acknowledged perceptions that he's a media darling: "Most of you covered me; all of you voted for me. Apologies to the Fox table."

Skit with teleprompter...
“Good evening. You know, I had an entire speech prepared for this occasion. But now that I’m here, I think I want to try something a little different. Tonight, I want to speak from the heart. So, I’m not going to use this script. I’m going to speak off the cuff. [Two teleprompter shields rise slowly from beneath the podium, to musical accompaniment. Laughter.] Good evening … [huge laughter]

Why did Wanda get free pass?
Somehow Ms. Sykes got laughs with this material, and draws no fire. It is all supposed to be about the setting, or so we are told. President Obama was there, the dinner is always the Washington version of a Friars Club Roast, just without the Sopranos language. (...)

But what if Limbaugh, white talk show host, goes on the air and says that Sykes, black comedian, is about half-a-terrorist and that, oh by the way, he hopes she dies? Is he allowed to say he's just an entertainer, and tell everybody to lighten up?

Honestly, what can I say here? Out President is a class act. Obama feels like he is a celebrity, not a president. He loves attention, he loves the spotlight, he thinks he is the bees knees. Have you seen his guest list? The evening's guest list featured (in no particular order): Glenn Close; Robert De Niro; Jennifer Garner and Ben Affleck; Natalie Portman; Stevie Wonder; Sting; Taye Diggs; John Cusack; Demi Moore; Alicia Keys; Brad Paisley; Eva Longoria Parker; Forest Whitaker; Jon Hamm; Chris "Ludacris" Bridges; young actors Miranda Cosgrove and Chace Crawford; and, for good measure, directors George Lucas and Steven Spielberg.

In the ballroom, Tom Cruise and his wife, Katie Holmes, obliged photo requests -- even an unusual one from Bloomberg reporter Bill McQuillen, who wanted a picture of himself with Cruise's wife. "You want me to take the picture?" asked Cruise, who then complied.

The guest list reads like the MTV music awards. Pathetic.

of course that's not what Rush said - notice how all his apologists have to rewrite what el Rushbo ACTUALLY said? But regardless, the right wing has labeled people traitors for years - and it's coming back on them. Rush is a big boy - I'm sure he'll figure it all out...
